Who is eligible to receive Mathematica?

This software is licensed by the University of Pennsylvania and is restricted to Institutional use only by Penn faculty and staff, as well as faculty and staff of Penn Medicine, for Penn-related academic use or for Penn-related academic research on a Penn-owned computer.

How do I purchase Mathematica?

OSL has developed a new Kivuto Licensing Portal that allows for orders to be placed for this and most other software titles, allowing payment via BEN budget code. Please visit the How to Order page for directions.

How do I start using Mathematica?

After you purchase Mathematica, instructions on how to download and install the software will be provided on the Kivuto Website. Those instructions are reprinted below for your convenience:

Visit the Wolfram User Portal and either enter your existing login information, or create a new Wolfram ID. Complete the Wolfram Activation Key Request Form. The Activation Key will give you temporary access to download the software until OSL approves your activation for the remainder of the license year.

Can faculty receive a Home Use Mathematica license?

Yes, faculty are entitled to one Home Use License when their departments purchase a departmental license for them. Please contact the Office of Software Licensing for details. 

How do I request access to Mathematica|Online?

  1. If you haven't done so, go to http://user.wolfram.com and create a WolframID (use your Penn email).
  2. Check your email to validate this.
  3. Request access to Mathematica|Online.
  4. Check email to validate.
  5. To use Mathematica|Online from a laptop or desktop, visit http://mathematica.wolframcloud.com and log-in. To use the software on a mobile device, download the free Wolfram Cloud app from your app store and log-in.

How can I get WolframAlpha Pro?

  1. First, make sure you have a Wolfram ID.
  2. Request a WolframAlpha Pro login from this link.
  3. Check your email and click the link to validate.
  4. Go to the WolframAlpha page and log in with your Wolfram ID in the upper right-hand corner.

Where can I download upgrade files?

The installation file for the new version may be downloaded from the Download Center.
