The following are suggestions and are not legal advice for issues with landlords

• Conflicts can arise between landlords and tenants because one party has violated the terms of the lease or when there has been a miscommunication.
• Be sure to put all of your concerns in writing to your landlord
• Set up an appointment to talk in person to your landlord about the issue you are experiencing
• If something is damaged in your rental home, document the damage with pictures
• Notify the landlord as soon as an issue occurs
• Give the landlord a reasonable amount of time to remedy the problem. Times vary depending on the severity of the issue
• If you smell gas or there is a fire, contact emergency services -911- before the landlord
