Moving and Storage

Things to do before you move-in.

Moving: Like it or not- moving is hard work!  Planning your move is one of the most important steps you can take to make your move-in day a success.

Moving can also be challenging to accomplish on your own. If you have no means of transporting your furniture and belongings it might be a sensible idea to hire a moving company. Before using any moving or storage company:

  • Conduct research and call several companies, giving detailed information about what services you are looking for.
  • Ask for written estimates to compare and costs and services between companies.
  • Make sure that you understand the company’s policies and practices.

The Department of Residential Services has an agreement with to provide storage services to both on- and off-campus students. Any contractual arrangement with is strictly between the Penn student and that company. How it works:

  • School Storage delivers boxes to you.
  • You pack the boxes.
  • School Storage picks up the boxes (and anything else you want to store) and stores it at their permanent facility.
  • School Storage deliver it back to you when you return.
