Uber has joined with the University of Pennsylvania to promote safe, on-demand ridesharing options that supplement Penn’s integrated transportation system, providing point to point travel across campus or in situations where other transportation modes are less convenient.
The University’s approach to campus transportation has been to make students aware of all available transportation options that together create a robust, transit experience for students, faculty and staff. Uber now joins Penn’s other collaborations with SEPTA, Drexel, the University City District, and the Division of Public Safety’s Walking Escort Program.
- Rider discounts: Uber will be offering special Penn Promotions. As an example, to celebrate the launch of the program, Uber is offering a 2017 promotion: if you’re new to Uber, use the Penn promotion code QUAKERRIDES to get your first Uber ride free (up to $20.17 in value).
- Dedicated pickup area at The Palestra, with custom signage and in-app integration, so riders and drivers have an easier time connecting after events.
- Streamlined in-app pickup points for major buildings on campus. For example, if a rider inputs a dorm as their pickup location, the app will recommend a specific place on the surrounding streets to meet their driver
