Active Hurricane Season

Travel Affected

The Hurricane Season has hit hard and travel is being affected both internationally and domestically.

Air Travel
  • Most potentially affected airports will halt or minimize operations as the storms approach.  Many of the planes will be moved out of potentially affected areas to other parts of the United States.  Once an airport reopens, it will take a number of days to resume normally scheduling as planes return to the air.
  • IMPORTANT:  Your flight may be affected, even if it is not within the Storm area.  Please check on the airline website to determine if your flight has been affected both the day before and at least 3 hours prior to your flight.  Flight status may continue to change up until departure time.
  • If your flight was cancelled, and you did not rebook, please contact the airline (or World Travel if you booked to Concur/World Travel) to obtain a refund.  Timing is important.   Some airlines will refund the cost of the flight and others will only issue a credit (without rebooking charges), but all of this must be done within a few days of the original flight.
    • If you booked in Concur or with World Travel directly - call World Travel at 888-641-9112
    • If you booked directly with an airline - call their reservations number
    • If you booked in any other manner - contact that resource directly
  • NOTE:  Many airlines waive change fees when they are certain that an incoming storm will impact their ability to fly.  World Travel agents can assist on a case by case basis.
  • WORLD TRAVEL ASSISTANCE:  If your reservations were made using Concur On-Line or with World Travel directly, call 1-888-641-9112 or 610-458-5554.  They can help with rebooking and cancellations.

If you are located in the storm affected area:
  • Follow directions issued by government and emergency agencies
  • If you remain in place, contact your Penn office or Penn Travel Services after the storm has passed to let us know you are OK.
  • If you need assistance, contact Penn Police at 215-573-333 who can direct your call to the proper Penn department or email Penn Travel Services at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
