One Card Many Services

The PennCard is the official University of Pennsylvania identification card for students, faculty, staff, and other members of the Penn community. The PennCard is also used for many activities including building access, recreation and library services, and PennCash purchases.

 

Obtain Your PennCard

  • Students
  • Faculty
  • Staff
  • Alumni
  • UPHS
  • Guests
  • Currently enrolled students are eligible for a PennCard; bring a government photo I.D. to the PennCard Center
  • New students for fall semester should apply online at Campus Express; pickup at New Student Orientation
  • There is no charge for your initial PennCard

  • All faculty are eligible to have a PennCard
  • For new standing faculty, there is no charge for your initial PennCard; there is a $25 fee for all others

  • Staff members are eligible to have a PennCard
  • A complete payroll record must be entered into the Payroll/Personnel System at least one business day prior to coming to the PennCard Center
  • Bring a government photo I.D. to the PennCard Center

  • Penn Alumni are eligible to have an Alumni PennCard
  • The card is good for 5 years and the cost is $25
  • Bring a government issued photo I.D to the PennCard Center
  • Alumni may also obtain their Alumni PennCard by mail

  • UPHS employees can have a PennCard for use at the University's libraries and recreation facilities
  • Bring a government issued photo I.D to the PennCard Center
  • There is a $25 fee for the card which is valid for five years

  • Guests of departments may be issued a PennCard for use of Penn services and facilities
  • In most cases there is a $25 fee
  • Specific procedures vary depending on your status
