Room Selection for 5- and 6-Person Suites

The housing application at MyHomeAtPenn limits roommate groups to 4 students or fewer. Because students who would like to retain their room or participate in the priority selection phase of Priority Return to House must fill all vacant beds in the room, if you would like to live in a 5- or 6-person suite in New College House, please follow the additional Room Selection instructions below.

Room Retention (Rising Juniors and Rising Seniors Only)

If you or your prospective roommates currently live in a 5- or 6-person suite in New College House and would like to retain that suite for next year, follow the steps for Room Retention, with the following additions:

  • Form two separate groups that add up to 5 or 6 students total.
  • Create the groups so that there is a current resident of the suite in each group, and make that student the captain. If only one student currently lives in the room, they must be the captain of their group.
  • All group members must submit the Room Selection application at MyHomeAtPenn by February 7 at 1:00pm and select Priority Return to House.
  • Both captains must email living@upenn.edu by February 7 at 1:00pm to notify the Housing Assignments Office that they would like to retain the room. The captains must include the room number of the specific suite, the names and Penn ID numbers of all of their roommates, and the bed space assignment for each roommate.
  • All other Room Retention┬árules still apply.

Priority Return to House

If you would like to move into a 5- or 6-person suite in New College House through Priority Return to House, follow the steps for Priority Return to House, with the following additions:

  • Form two separate groups that add up to 5 or 6 students total.
  • Create the groups so that there is a current New College House resident in each group, and make that student the captain. If only one student currently lives in New College House, they must be the captain of their group.
  • All group members must submit the Room Selection application at MyHomeAtPenn by February 7 at 1:00pm and select Priority Return to House. If only one student currently lives in New College House, the group that they are not the captain of might not see the Priority Return to House option but must still submit applications by the February 7 at 1:00pm deadline.
  • Both group captains will receive their timeslots for live selection on February 8.
  • On the evening of February 10, both group captains must attend an in-person selection event in New College House, where groups interested in 5- and 6-person suites will select from the available 5- and 6-person suites in the order of their timeslots and assign their group members to bed spaces. The group with the earlier timeslot will pull in the group with the later timeslot. Captains who miss the in-person event will still be able to select rooms in New College House for their group at MyHomeAtPenn during their live selection timeslot, but will not be able to select a 5- or 6-person suite.
  • All other Priority Return to House┬árules still apply.
