This newly designed webpage provides search functionality for information about Penn’s Preferred Contract Caterers. Users can now search for caterers based on cuisine and dietary preference (e.g. kosher, halal, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc.). In addition, and in support of Penn’s environmental and economic sustainability priorities, users are now able to search for caterers based on diversity classification, environmental sustainability capabilities, and local/regional designations. With these tools in place, every effort should be made to utilize local and diverse suppliers, while choosing services that are environmentally sustainable.

In terms of environmental sustainability, the University has developed tiered capabilities for each supplier. This includes four levels with Level 4 being the most environmentally sustainable. The levels are defined as per the chart below.

While Penn offers a number of choices for catering suppliers, Bon Appetit serves the University as a strategic partner, providing catering services as well as food service for Penn Dining. Bon Appetit supports Penn’s efforts in the areas of diversity and inclusion as well as environmental sustainability, and should be considered for School/Center catering needs.

The University of Pennsylvania does not have a liquor license. Therefore, the host of an event must provide their own wine & spirits, and it must be purchased within Pennsylvania at a Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board store or from Specialized Wine & Spirits. Only Approved Caterers with liquor liability insurance are permitted to provide bar service and serve alcohol at events on campus.
