Managing Supply Chain Challenges

As has been well-covered in the news, the world is experiencing broad supply chain constraints.  Labor and material shortages are impacting virtually all categories of purchases.  Some of the most dramatically impacted areas for Penn include technology, furniture, and industrial supplies.  Even in cases where material is available, shortages in transportation and delivery staff are extending lead times and contributing to increased pricing.

Penn maintains a number of strategic supplier relationships that are helping the University manage through this challenging period.  To ensure that you are not faced with a shortage in either supplies or services, please allow for ample lead time and be mindful of potential price increases that could impact budget.  In sourcing goods and services, make full use of Penn’s preferred contract suppliers as noted in the Penn Marketplace.  Doing so will help ensure that contract pricing terms prevail and that negotiated service structures support your purchase.
