Real ID Deadline Extended to 2021

Beginning October 1, 2021, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will begin to officially enforce the REAL ID Act of 2005.

Driver’s licenses that are not REAL ID compliant will no longer be accepted for domestic flights at any U.S. airport.  Traditional driver’s licenses are still valid for driving. A valid passport is will remain necessary for international travel. Please visit the following resources for information:

Alternate Acceptable Identification:

  • U.S. passport or passport card
  • U.S. military ID
  • U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)
  • Enhanced driver’s licenses (offered in MI, MN, NY, VT, and WA. Generally marked with the U.S. flag)
