Guests of the University of Pennsylvania may obtain a PennCard through the sponsorship of a University department. Family members are also entitled to a PennCard (spouse, domestic partners, children).




Guest

Guests of the University of Pennsylvania may obtain a PennCard through the sponsorship of a University department. Please use the following procedure to obtain your Guest PennCard:

  • Bring a completed PennCard Request Form, along with a valid government issued photo I.D. to the PennCard Center.
  • You will then be issued a PennCard good until the date specified on the PennCard Request Form (not to exceed 1 year).
  • There is a $30 fee for the card and this charge may be paid by the cardholder by cash, check, Visa, Master Card or the PennCard Center will bill the cardholder's department as long as the proper 26-digit budget code is entered on the PennCard Request Form.

 

Consultants

Consultants retained by a University of Pennsylvania department may obtain a PennCard through the sponsorship of that department. Please use the following procedure to obtain your Consultant PennCard:

  • Bring a completed PennCard Request Form, along with a valid form of government issued photo I.D. to the PennCard Center.
  • You will then be issued a PennCard good until the date specified on the PennCard Request Form (not to exceed 1 year).
  • There is a $30 fee for the card and this charge may be paid by the cardholder by cash check, Visa, Master Card, or the PennCard Center will bill the cardholder's department as long as the proper 26-digit budget code is entered on the PennCard Request Form.

 

Contractors

Contractors retained by a University of Pennsylvania department may obtain a PennCard through the sponsorship of that department. Please use the following procedure to obtain your Contractor PennCard:

  • Bring a completed PennCard Request Form, along with a valid government issued photo I.D. to the PennCard Center.
  • You will then be issued a PennCard good until the date specified on the PennCard Request Form (not to exceed 1 year).
  • There is a $30 fee for the card and this charge may be paid by the cardholder by cash check, Visa, Master Card or the PennCard Center will bill the cardholder's department as long as the proper 26-digit budget code is entered on the PennCard Request Form.

 

Spouses/Partners

Spouses or domestic partners of University of Pennsylvania students, regular faculty, or staff are eligible for a Spouse/Partner PennCard. Please review the Spouse/Partner Policy, use the following procedure to obtain a Spouse/Partner PennCard and fill out the Domestic Partner Approval Form:

  • Both the PennCard holder and the spouse or partner must come to the PennCard Center.
  • The PennCard holder must bring their valid PennCard and their spouse/partner must bring a valid government issued photo I.D.
  • Bring documentation that shows proof of marriage or domestic partnership. Acceptable documentation (which must show the same last names or both last names) includes a marriage certificate, a shared lease, a shared bank or credit account or a passport coded for partner or spouse (J2 or F2). Staff or faculty may also present a form from Human Resources confirming domestic partnership.
  • A PennCard will be issued that will expire when the sponsoring PennCard holder's card expires.
  • There is a $30 charge for the card and this charge may be paid by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard by the cardholder.

 

Children/Dependents

Children or minor dependents of University of Pennsylvania students, regular faculty, or staff are eligible for a Child/Dependent PennCard. Please use the following procedure to obtain a Child/Dependent PennCard:

  • Both the PennCard holder and the child/dependent must come to the PennCard Center.
  • The PennCard holder must bring their valid PennCard and their Child/Dependent must present a valid form of identification.
  • Bring documentation that shows proof of the child/dependent relationship with the PennCard holder.
  • A PennCard will be issued that will expire when the sponsoring PennCard holder's card expires.
  • There is a $25 charge ($30 as of Aug. 1, 2014) for the card and this charge may be paid by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard by the cardholder.

 

Adjunct Faculty

Adjunct Faculty of the University of Pennsylvania are eligible to have a PennCard. Please use the following procedure to obtain your Adjunct Faculty PennCard:

  • Bring your letter of appointment, a completed PennCard Request Form, and a valid government issued photo I.D. to the PennCard Center.
  • You will then be issued a PennCard good until the date specified on the PennCard Request Form (not to exceed 1 year).
  • There is a $30 fee for the card and this charge may be paid by the cardholder by cash, check, Visa or Master Card, or the PennCard Center will bill the cardholder's department as long as the proper 26-digit budget code is entered on the PennCard Request Form.

 

Courtesy Appointment

Individuals affiliated with a particular University of Pennsylvania department may obtain a Courtesy Appointment PennCard through the sponsorship of that department. Please use the following procedure to obtain your Courtesy Appointment PennCard:

  • Bring a completed PennCard Request Form, along with a valid government issued photo I.D. to the PennCard Center.
  • You will then be issued a PennCard good until the date specified on the PennCard Request Form (not to exceed 1 year).
  • There is a $30 fee for the card and this charge may be paid by the cardholder by cash, check, Visa or Master Card, or the PennCard Center will bill the cardholder's department as long as the proper 26-digit budget code is entered on the PennCard Request Form.

 

College House Associates

Individuals affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania's College House System may obtain a PennCard by permission of the Office of College Houses and Academic Services. Please use the following procedure to obtain your College House Associate PennCard:

  • Bring a completed PennCard Request Form (this form must be completed by the Office of College Houses and Academic Services), along with a valid, government issued photo I.D. to the PennCard Center.
  • You will then be issued a PennCard good until the date specified on the PennCard Request Form (not to exceed 1 year).
  • There is a $30 fee and this charge may be paid by the cardholder by cash, check, Visa or Master Card, or the PennCard Center will bill the cardholder's department as long as the proper 26-digit budget code is entered on the PennCard Request Form.

 

Chaplain's Office

Individuals affiliated with the Chaplain's Office at the University of Pennsylvania may obtain a PennCard by permission of the Chaplain. There is no fee charged.

 

Howard Hughes Associates

Members of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute are eligible to have a PennCard. Please use the following procedure to obtain your Howard Hughes PennCard:

  • Bring a completed PennCard Request Form (this form must be completed by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute), along with a valid government issued photo I.D. to the PennCard Center.
  • You will then be issued a PennCard good until the date specified on the PennCard Request Form (not to exceed 2 years).
  • There is a $30 fee and this charge may be paid by the cardholder by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard.

 

NROTC Faculty

NROTC Faculty at the University of Pennsylvania are eligible to have a PennCard. Please use the following procedure to obtain your NROTC Faculty PennCard:

  • Bring a completed PennCard Request Form (this form must be completed by the NROTC or Naval Science Department), along with a valid, government issued photo I.D. to the PennCard Center.
  • You will then be issued a PennCard good until the date specified on the PennCard Request Form (not to exceed 1 year).
  • There is a $30 fee for the card and this charge may be paid by the cardholder by cash, check, Visa or Master Card, or the PennCard Center will bill the cardholder's department as long as the proper 26-digit budget code is entered on the PennCard Request Form.

 

Senior Associates

Senior Associates officially enrolled and registered in a course may obtain a PennCard free of charge by visiting the PennCard Center and presenting a valid, government issued photo I.D. If you are not officially enrolled in a course, you must contact the College of General Studies in order to obtain a PennCard.

 

Visiting Faculty

Faculty visiting the University of Pennsylvania may obtain a PennCard through the sponsorship of the University department. Please use the following procedure to obtain your Visiting Faculty PennCard:

  • Bring your letter of invitation, a completed PennCard Request Form and a valid government issued photo I.D. to the PennCard Center.
  • You will then be issued a PennCard good until the date specified on the PennCard Request Form (not to exceed 1 year).
  • There is a $30 fee for the card and this charge may be paid by the cardholder by cash, check, Visa or Master Card, or the PennCard Center will bill the cardholder's department as long as the proper 26-digit budget code is entered on the PennCard Request Form.

 

Visiting Scholars

Scholars visiting the University of Pennsylvania may obtain a PennCard through the sponsorship of the University department. Please use the following procedure to obtain your Visiting Scholar PennCard:

  • Bring your letter of invitation, a completed PennCard Request Form and a valid, government issued photo I.D. to the PennCard Center.
  • You will then be issued a PennCard good until the date specified on the PennCard Request Form (not to exceed 1 year).
  • There is a $30 fee for the card and this charge may be paid by the cardholder by cash, check, Visa or Master Card, or the PennCard Center will bill the cardholder's department as long as the proper 26-digit budget code is entered on the PennCard Request Form.

 

Visiting Students

Students Visiting the University of Pennsylvania may obtain a PennCard through the sponsorship of a University department. Please use the following procedure to obtain your Visiting Student PennCard:

  • Bring a completed PennCard Request Form and your student ID from the college or university you are currently attending.
  • You will then be issued a PennCard good until the date specified on the PennCard Request Form (not to exceed 1 year).
  • There is a $30 fee for the card and this charge may be paid by the cardholder by cash, check, Visa or Master Card, or the PennCard Center will bill the cardholder's department as long as the proper 26-digit budget code is entered on the PennCard Request Form.

 

Wistar Faculty

Faculty of the Wistar Institute are eligible to have a PennCard. Please use the following procedure to obtain your Wistar Faculty PennCard:

  • Please contact Wistar Human Resources department to confirm your eligibility for a PennCard.
  • Once confirmed, stop by the PennCard Center to obtain your PennCard.

 

Wistar Staff

Staff of the Wistar Institute are eligible to have a PennCard. Please use the following procedure to obtain your Wistar Staff PennCard:

  • Please contact Wistar Human Resources department to confirm your eligibility for a PennCard.
  • Once confirmed, stop by the PennCard Center to obtain your PennCard.
