All faculty are eligible to have a PennCard.

There is no charge for your initial PennCard for new standing faculty.

STANDING FACULTY

Standing faculty who are currently being paid through the University of Pennsylvania payroll system are eligible for a faculty PennCard.

  • Please come to the PennCard center 1 business day after the day you start working.
  • Bring a valid passport or US government-issued photo ID to the PennCard center.

 

STANDING FACULTY-CLINICIAN-EDUCATORS

Clinician-Educators at the University of Pennsylvania are eligible for a faculty PennCard.

  • In order to pick up your PennCard, please come to the PennCard center 1 business day after the day you start working.
  • Bring a valid passport or US government-issued photo ID to the PennCard center.

 

NON-STANDING FACULTY PAID THROUGH THE UNIVERSITY PAYROLL SYSTEM

Non-standing faculty who are currently being paid through the University of Pennsylvania payroll system are eligible for a faculty PennCard.

  • In order to pick up your PennCard, please come to the PennCard center 1 business day after the day you start working.
  • Bring a valid passport or US government-issued photo ID to the PennCard center.
  • Bring a completed PennCard request form with the appropriate box checked.
  • There is a $30 fee for the card. The PennCard center will bill the cardholder’s department as long as a budget code is entered on the form. If there is no budget code, the cardholder will be responsible for the fee. The fee can be paid by cash, check, or Visa/MasterCard.

 

NON-STANDING FACULTY NOT PAID THROUGH THE UNIVERSITY PAYROLL SYSTEM

Non-standing faculty who are not being paid through the University of Pennsylvania payroll system are eligible for a faculty PennCard.

  • In order to pick up your PennCard, please come to the PennCard center 1 business day after the day you start working.
  • Bring a valid passport or US government-issued photo ID to the PennCard center.
  • Bring a completed PennCard request form with the appropriate box checked.

POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWS/RESEARCHERS

Post-doctoral fellows/researchers at the University of Pennsylvania are eligible for a faculty PennCard with the Post-Doc designation.

  • In order to pick up your PennCard, please come to the PennCard center 1 business day after the day you start working.
  • Bring a valid passport or US government-issued photo ID to the PennCard center.
  • Bring a completed PennCard request form with the appropriate box checked.

 

FACULTY ON LONG-TERM DISABILITY

Faculty of the University of Pennsylvania who are on long-term disability are eligible for a faculty PennCard.

  • Wait 1 business day after your department has made the appropriate changes to your record.
  • Bring your current, non-expired faculty PennCard or a valid passport or US government-issued photo ID to the PennCard center.

 

EMERITUS AND RETIRED FACULTY

Emeritus and retired faculty of the University of Pennsylvania are eligible for a faculty PennCard.

  • In order to pick up your PennCard, please come to the PennCard center 1 business day after your retirement date.
  • Bring a valid passport or US government-issued photo ID to the PennCard center.

 

OTHER FACULTY DESIGNATIONS

Other faculty designations are eligible for faculty PennCard.

  • In order to pick up your PennCard, please come to the PennCard center 1 business day after the day you start working.
  • Bring a valid passport or US government-issued photo ID to the PennCard center.
  • Bring a completed PennCard request form with the appropriate box checked.
