Morris Arboretum Winter Photo Contest

Calling all photogs! Beat the summer heat and think back to shots of snow-covered trees and holiday lights. Morris Arboretum wants to see how you’ve captured the magic of wintertime in our garden for a special upcoming project.

The Contest

You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. “Winter Photo” is up to your own interpretation, but keep in mind the judging criteria: Representation of Morris Arboretum (50%), Creativity (25%), and Photo (25%). One winner and two runners-up will be selected. Submission window closes on October 1st. Winners will be announced in November.

Judging

Contest entries will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Representation of Morris Arboretum (50%) – Points for showcasing the unique sense of place that can only be found within our grounds.
  • Creativity (25%) – Points for originality
  • Photo (25%) – Points for aesthetic appeal, including such things as balanced color and lighting.

The Prizes

One winner will be selected to have their photo showcased on the cover of Morris Arboretum’s 2020 holiday greeting card, with photo credit. The first-place winner will also receive a set of four Morris Arboretum guest passes. Two runners-up will be selected to each receive a set of four Morris Arboretum guest passes.

Contest Rules

  • Submissions will not be accepted after the October 1, 2020 deadline.
  • All photos must be original work, taken by the entrants.
  • By entering the contest, entrants agree that photos submitted can be used by Morris Arboretum for internal and external communications (including but not limited to the organization’s holiday card, website, and fundraising materials).
  • Winners will be contacted via the email address provided during entry.
  • Morris Arboretum’s annual holiday card is a non-denominational message of goodwill shared with the organization’s friends and supporters and will not be sold for monetary gain.
