Fall Trail

Whether you're into all the new National Days that have been creeping into the calendar, you must admit, they're conversation starters. Whether you're standing by the water cooler, sitting on the train, or just squeezing in some Facebook time - National Potato Chip Day made someone happy somewhere!

We happen to notice on one of these calendars, that today, November 17th, is National Take A Hike Day. It seems National Take a Hike day is observed annually on November 17 (although we can't say for how long this has been going on). However, with over 60,000 miles of trails in the National Trail System, there is no lack of opportunity to take a hike.

Hiking can burn between 300-500 calories per hour depending on your size.  Can you think of a better way to get a jump on all those holiday temptations? Observe Take a Hike Day today at the arboretum. We've got miles of paved and unpaved trails.  Wear good shoes, bring a friend, and get some exercise in a glorious setting!
So...the next time you hear about one of those new National Days, like National Button Day (yup, that was yesterday) - we hope you'll think of the arboretum, and come out for a hike!
