Eligibility to Purchase

A valid, full-time University of Pennsylvania, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Presbyterian Medical Center, or Pennsylvania Hospital identification is required to determine eligibility to purchase. All reasonable efforts have been made to ensure the accuracy of the data contained herein at the time of posting. Prices, specifications, and availability are subject to change without notice. Errors are subject to our correction. Sales tax not included in listed prices.


Certain vendor agreement and other policies limit the sale of certain items to eligible purchasers. In general, an eligible purchaser is University of Pennsylvania faculty, full-time staff, or student enrolled in a degree or certificate program, or employees of affiliated hospitals and institutions are eligible to make purchases at Computer Connection. Eligibility must be verifiable; other policies may apply. Eligibility to purchase is subject to management approval.

Hardware and software are available to faculty and full-time staff of the University of Pennsylvania (U of PA); Penn Medicine (UPHS); Wistar Institute; Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP); University of Pennsylvania students enrolled in a course of study leading to degree or certificate; and students who have graduated from high school, accepted and signed a letter of intent to enroll and submitted a non-refundable deposit.

Faculty, staff, and students of University of Pennsylvania, Penn Medicine, Wistar Institute, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Drexel University, Moore College of Art, and The University of the Arts are eligible to purchase Apple  products with personal funds. Eligible individual purchasers are allowed to purchase the following quantities of product per academic school year (August 1 through the following July 31):

  1. Desktop (includes iMac and Mac Pro): Three (3) may be purchased per academic year
  2. Mac mini: Three (3) may be purchased per academic year
  3. Notebook (includes Macbook Pro, and MacBook Air): Three (3) may be purchased per academic year
  4. Display: A maximum of two (2) may be purchased per academic year
  5. iPad: A maximum of three (3) may be purchased per academic year

Eligible faculty, students and staff may purchase one desktop and one notebook, per model for their personal use during their affiliation with U of PA, HUP and CHOP.

Eligible faculty, students and staff may purchase no more than one notebook computer, one desktop computer, and one display per Academic year (July 1-June 30). Verified Penn Alumni may also be eligible to purchase.

Special Orders

For any item(s) not in stock at the time you place your order: please note that the selling price quoted to you by the Penn Computer Connection is an estimate. We will make every effort to honor the quoted price, but cannot guarantee pricing for products that are not in stock at the time your order is placed. As always, prices, products, availability, and specifications are subject to change and/or our correction.

Return Policy

Computers, software, supplies, and accessories may be returned within ten business days of purchase if in the original sealed package (unopened) and with original store receipt. (Products must be of the current version or model). Opened products are not returnable. Defective products will be handled in accordance with the manufacturer's warranty. Products inoperable upon first use have specific policies that vary with each manufacturer or distributor. Depending on the product, the item is either eligible for repair under warranty or may be exchanged for the same item. Requests for all returns must occur within 10 days of purchase. A restocking fee of at least 20% may apply to returns accepted outside the above guidelines. All returns are subject to approval by Computer Connection management staff. Depending on the particular product, other policies may apply.

Terms & Conditions of Sale

The Computer Connection makes no express or implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for particular purpose other than to provide the manufacturer's warranties. The Computer Connection shall have no liability for any consequential, incidental or special damages and the Computer Connection’s sole liability shall be to accept return of the product in accordance with its standard return policy. Individuals purchasing product(s) represent and warrant that the product(s) is intended for his/her own use and that the product is not being purchased for further resale. This sale is subject to the University of Pennsylvania’s standard Terms and Conditions. Sales tax not included in prices listed. Prices, products, availability, and specifications are subject to change and/or our correction without notice.

Payment Options

For sales to individual Faculty, Staff and Students, the Computer Connection accepts cash, personal checks and personal credit cards from Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Students may also bill transactions to their Student Financial Services account using their PennCard, and they may pay using PennCash.

University departments and may purchase using Purchase Orders, Computer Connection Requisitions (available in our showroom), and Penn Procurement Cards. Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Wistar Institute department may purchase using purchase orders.
