What's New in ArcGIS Online (April 2018)

From: Esri
Subject: New Features in ArcGIS Online

Here’s a quick introduction to some of the new features in ArcGIS Online. You’ll also find links to detailed information about the entire update.

New Content Categories
Make your maps, scenes, and layers easier to find by assigning categories to them. These categories are set up by your organization’s administrator or group owner and can be customized to match the work you do.

It's Easier to Find Layers
When adding layers in Map Viewer, you’ll find a refreshed interface. Newly added table and list views, expandable item details, filters, and sorting options make it easier to find layers. As you peruse your search results, you can quickly add any layer to your favorites without leaving the search.

New Way to Share: Media Map
Looking for a simple way to give viewers the opportunity to interact with your maps online? Media Map, the newest configurable app template, embeds neatly within news articles or blogs and performs well on mobile devices.

This is only an introduction to the April 2018 update. Discover all the new features and enhancements by visiting the ArcGIS Blog and ArcGIS Online Help.

Two-Year Maximum for All SSL Certificates (3/1/2018)

The CA Browser Forum implemented a change in Certification Authorities’ policy requirements, reducing the maximum lifetime for all TLS/SSL certificates to 825 days, which is just over 27 months. This is a reduction from the existing maximum term of 39 months, meaning the maximum validity for an SSL certificate is now two years, not three.

As a result, Comodo CA will adopt these new lifetime requirements effective March 1, 2018, and three-year certificates will be removed from our order form.

What this means to you:

  • You may still purchase one and two-year certificates.
  • Comodo CA will disable the ability to order certificates for terms longer than 27 months on March 1, 2018.
  • After March 1, any renewals or reissues of certificates that were originally for terms longer than 27 months will have their term truncated to the maximum permissible duration of 27 months. When the 27 months expires, customers will receive a free replacement certificate, which is valid for the remainder of the certificate duration.
  • There is no action required for 3-year certificates issued prior to March 1, 2018. These certificates are unaffected and will remain valid for their full term. However, should customers need to replace one of these certificates after March 1, the new regulations will apply.

Please refer to Comodo CA’s FAQ page for more details. Learn more about the new requirements by visiting the CA/Browser Forum.

Fix for Security Vulnerability in Mathematica 11.1-11.3 on Linux

Wolfram has very recently discovered a potential security vulnerability in Mathematica 11.1, 11.2 and 11.3 on Linux operating systems. Under certain circumstances, users of your system could execute arbitrary Wolfram Language code as root.
Updated installers are now available in the Wolfram User Portal: http://user.wolfram.com
Wolfram strongly advises you to address this vulnerability by replacing any copies of the Mathematica 11.3 Linux installer that you maintain.
Site users can also address this vulnerability on their local machines by following the steps outlined here: http://support.wolfram.com/kb/41501
If you have any questions, please Technical Support: https://wolfr.am/technical-support

Important Information About Mathematica 11.3 for Linux

Mathematica 11.3 for Linux no longer supports 32-bit Linux but is compatible with most 64-bit Linux distributions. Mathematica users who are running a 32-bit version of Linux can continue to use Mathematica 11.2. The installer for Mathematica 11.2 will remain available in the Wolfram User Portal.

Mathematica just released version 11.3. Current users are eligible for a free upgrade. For more information and to view a live coding demo with Stephen Wolfram, please visit the Wolfram Blog. The Wolfram Documentation Center also has a listing of key new features in 11.3. (3/8/2018)
