New Student Move In: August 24:

8 am – 4 pm: Unloading to carts will be done by Move In staff in order to keep traffic moving.

After 4 pm: Unloading will be curb side and self-service.


New Student Move In: August 25:

8 am – 1 pm: Unloading to carts will be done by Move In staff in order to keep traffic moving.

After 1 pm: Unloading will be self-service.

Spruce Street will be closed to all BUT Move In traffic from 38th – 34th Sts, during full service move in times.


What to Expect:

Unloading will take place from Spruce Street adjacent to Stouffer.

Unloading and parking passes will be issued at the unloading area and are not available prior to your arrival.

Parking regulations will be suspended from 8 am – 8 pm on both days.

Drivers must stay with their car until unloading is completed; they will be directed to remote lots where they will be able to park for the remainder of the day at no cost.

Who will help:

August 24, 8 – 4 pm

August 25, 8 – 1 pm

Move In staff will assist in unloading cars from Spruce Street near Stouffer, bringing filled carts to the Stouffer Patio.

Staff will be also show new residents where they will pick up keys, check in, and how to access guest passes for their guests.

Carts will be brought into Stouffer via the loading dock entrance and “cart checked” on the Stouffer patio for retrieval by residents.


Tips for making it work and to keep traffic moving:

The driver must to stay with the car and to move immediately to the remote parking locations when the car is empty.


Checking In, Key Pick Up, Guest Passes:

The new resident should be ready, with a photo id, check in and pick up room keys while the car is being unloaded.

Check-in and Key pick up will take place at the white check-in tent located just outside of the Stouffer College House entrance on the walkway.


Additional Information:

Stouffer has five wings, each with its own entrance from the Stouffer patio. Many of the student rooms are accessible via stairs only. It’s helpful to pack in small boxes and to distribute weight among the boxes. Help may be needed to carry minifridges or other large or heavy items to student rooms.

A freight elevator that goes to the patio level will be used by Move In staff during peak service days.

The main information center for Stouffer College House is located at Mayer Hall, at 3817 Spruce. The guard station at Stouffer provides basic services such as security monitoring, lock out keys and guest pass issuing after move in is over.


Campus wide operations end on August 28, including parking access and complimentary lot parking.

For all other dates, residents should plan to park and pay at City of Philadelphia kiosk managed spaces and to be careful of parking restrictions and times.


Upper Quad

Includes: All of Fisher-Hassenfeld College House, Ware College House: Memorial Tower, Morgan, Wilson, Bodine, Morris, Speakman upper entrance

Parking and unloading passes will be provided on arrival and are not available prior to coming to campus.

*Spruce St from 38th – 40th will be closed to all but Quad and Stouffer building Move In traffic from 8 am – 5 pm

Spruce Street will be closed during some of these periods to all BUT Move In traffic from 38th – 34th Sts. 


What to Expect:

During assisted hours, residents of Fisher Hassenfeld, and the above listed housing in Ware, will unload on the south side of Spruce Street.

Move In staff will bring carts to a cart check area in the Upper Quad green, residents will pick them up to bring to their individual entranceways to unload.

Drivers must stay with their car, once unloaded they must move to remote lots where they will be able to park for the remainder of the day at no cost. Directions to remote lots will be posted on the RHS website in late July.


Checking In, Key Pick Up, Guest Passes:

The resident will present a photo ID to check in and obtain room keys, at the white check-in tent located on the walkway outside of the 37th Street Archway. They should do this while the car is being unloaded.

Guest Passes:

Residents are strongly encouraged to preregister their guests for guest passes between early July and mid August. Residents may obtain guest passes when they arrive to campus.

Residents may pick up guest passes at this time, by presenting photo IDs for each of their guests. If the guests would like to pick up their own passes, they may do as well at any time by presenting their own photo IDs.

Additional Information:

Residents of the Quad receive a room key and an additional key that opens the exterior door to their assigned building as well as the bathrooms.

Most Quad rooms are accessible only via the stairwells into the complex. There are some changes in floor levels accomplished by steps throughout the building.

There are two elevators in the Quad, in Bodine and Ashurst. These elevators serve a limited range of student rooms and do not provide primary access to the upper areas of much of the Quad.

Packing in small boxes and distributing weight across these may make moving in easier.
