The off-campus housing search process can be challenging for students who are new to Philadelphia or looking to move into an apartment for the first time. To help with this transition, it’s important to determine variables such as budget, neighborhood and roommate situation. Peter Gemmellaro, Manager of Off-Campus and Customer Services, has some advice on how to find your home away from home while becoming a savvy and informed renter.

Each Penn student’s off-campus experiences are extremely personal, from the neighborhood they choose to the roommates they share space with to the communities they become a part of. While most Penn students find off-campus housing in West Philadelphia and Center City, Philadelphia is comprised of several vibrant and unique neighborhoods. Penn graduate students Hilary, Jonathan and Katherine live in three distinct neighborhoods of Philadelphia: University City, Fairmount/Art Museum and Rittenhouse Square. They have shared their individual perspectives on what they most enjoy about being a member of the Penn community living in the City of Brotherly Love.
