The most popular off-campus neighborhood for Penn students is University City. Situated in the easternmost edge of West Philadelphia, a robust and diverse population of students from local universities and colleges call this neighborhood home. Named for the six colleges and universities that reside within its borders, University City has an identity beyond that of a college town. This area has undergone a renaissance over the past 20 years and is known for its vibrant street-food scene, high-end art galleries and a large number of award-winning cafes and restaurants. University City is convenient for its proximity to campus and access to a variety of public transportation options.
In the video below, Penn graduate student Jonathan shares his individual perspective on what life is like living off-campus in University City.
